NMI Core Competencies

• Careful Selection of Investments. NMI will follow rigorous internal procedures and processes for selecting MIVs and MFIs for investment. The NMI management team and Investment Committee will follow the highest professional standards and global best practices in making investment decisions.

• In Depth Knowledge and Experience Regarding MFIs and Their Environments. NMI will have in-depth knowledge and experience regarding the operational, management, regulatory, and financial aspects of its portfolio MFIs. NMI will also have in-depth knowledge and experience regarding the regions and countries in which NMI invests. NMI will thus be a value added partner for MFIs and MIV Managers.

• Capacity and Institution Building. NMI will bring to bear a broad range of capacity and institution building knowledge and skills to its portfolio MFIs. This will be an area of particular focus and specialized expertise that NMI will bring to its investments, along with technical assistance funding through NMI's Professional Assistance Facility.

• Active Participation as an Investor. NMI will be an active investor in portfolio MFIs and with its MIV Managers, particularly with respect to NMI Frontier Fund direct investments. NMI will seek to the appropriate level of participation in Boards of Directors, Investment Committees, and other governance and management structures.
